Loves and political intrigues at the court of King Alfonso XI of Castile. The novice Fernando loves
Leonora, but discovers that she is the king’s lover; Fernando, disappointed, curses Leonora and
returns to the convent in Santiago de Compostela; while the young man takes his vows, The
beloved arrives, who, now dying, reveals her innocence, obtaining the forgiveness of the only man
she has truly loved.
